This is one of two Blackburn / Hawker Siddeley Buccaneers owned and operated by the The Buccaneer Aviation Group (TBAG) now located at the former RAF Kemble (Cotswold Airport) the other being XW544.
XX894 Started its flying career with 16 Sq at RAF Laarbruch Germany and after a stint with 16 squadron went to 15Sq.
In 1980 XX894 took part in the Red Flag exercise held in the USA sadly Buccaneer XV345 broke apart during a low level sortie, the cause turned out to be a crack in the wing spar resulting in structural failure. This caused a temporary grounding of the whole fleet, once flying resumed XX894 went on to serve with 208sq 237OCU and 12sq based at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. It participated in the 1991 Gulf War and on February 27 1991 it destroyed an Iraqi AF AN12. In Feb 1994 XX894 was painted to represent Buccaneer XW869 `020` Just several weeks before retirement to celebrate Buccaneers that served with both the RAF and RN. XX894 made it`s final flight into St Athan 07/04/1994 for disposal.
