The Reality of Volunteering in Nepal. I worked three weeks as a volunteer abroad in Nepal. In this video, I share 10 life-changing lessons I learned while volunteering as an English teacher at a local government school in Patan, a city near Kathmandu. From teaching Nepalese children, celebrating Holi Festival to living with a Nepali family and attending a traditiomal Nepali wedding party, this journey was filled with eye-opening moments, challenges, and unforgettable experiences. If you’ve ever thought about volunteering abroad, stepping out of your comfort zone, traveling to Nepal, or experiencing a new culture, I hope my story inspires you to take the leap!

🏫 How does the education system in Nepal differ from that in the Western world?
The future of schoolchildren in Nepal largely depends on their access to quality education, economic opportunities, and social factors like gender equality and regional development. In urban areas, children often have better access to schools, resources, and extracurricular opportunities, which can lead to careers in fields like medicine, engineering, or business. However, in rural areas, many children face challenges such as limited school facilities, a lack of qualified teachers, and economic pressures to leave school early and help support their families.
Despite these challenges, many Nepalese students are highly motivated and determined to improve their lives through education. Initiatives promoting skill-based learning, technology access, and scholarship programs are providing hope for a brighter future. With the right support, these children have the potential to shape Nepal’s development and achieve their dreams.
