Whale Trail, 5 Day Hike • Whales, Mountains & Coastal Magic in Western Cape, South Africa 🇿🇦

Join us on an unforgettable 5-day adventure along the Whale Trail in the stunning De Hoop Nature Reserve, Western Cape, South Africa. We hiked from the Potberg mountains down to the ocean, spending the final three days walking along the pristine coastline.

This isn’t just any hike — it’s a journey through one of the most ecologically rich and visually dramatic landscapes in South Africa. From mountain ridges to sweeping coastal dunes, from tiny fynbos blooms to 50-ton whales breaching offshore … it has it all.

Along the way, we captured incredible drone footage of whales breaching and playing in the surf — a true highlight of the trip!

Day 1: Ascent from Potberg, panoramic views over the Breede River, mountains and sea

Days 2-3: Transition from fynbos-covered mountains to limestone hills and then onto the coast
