In the third part of his acclaimed discourse series, "Anjaneyuḍē Ananta Śakti" (Hanuman is Infinite Power), Padma Shri Sri Garikipati Narasimha Rao discusses the ultimate form of praise bestowed upon Hanuman – directly from Lord Rama, who struggles to find a suitable reward after his coronation (Pattabhishekam).
The Unrewardable Hero:
During the distribution of gifts, Sita Devi requested that Hanuman also be rewarded, recognizing the extraordinary sacrifice he made for her. Rama, unable to find any jewel or treasure worthy of Hanuman, declared that Hanuman would not accept gold or money, and that even the power to rule the world would be rejected by him, as he is content only chanting "Rama Rama Rama". Rama praises Hanuman using a beautiful Telugu verse by Kankanti Paparaju, highlighting his impossible-to-replicate qualities.
Hanuman: The Master of All Knowledge:
Rama specifically praises Hanuman as Yatanmātruḍavē (You are unmatched) and the Śrauta Smārta Rahasyavēdevi (Knower of the Secrets of Śruti and Smriti). This vast knowledge was acquired through intense discipline, earned by the Kṛpā Vīkṣā Samāsādita (the grace-filled glance) of the Sun God (Vibhākara). Sri Garikipati explains that Hanuman studied while standing facing the scorching heat of the Sun, a teacher who is constantly moving. The Sun God, impressed by this effort, quickly granted him the power to absorb knowledge through his grace (Guru Kataksham). Rama also honors Hanuman for maintaining his Viśuddha Brahmacharya Vratōdhūtāmbhastcara Kētanunḍavu (pure vow of celibacy).
A Critical Look at Education and Discipline:
Drawing a sharp contrast, Sri Garikipati critiques contemporary education and parenting. He notes that today, parents prevent teachers from correcting children, fearing even a moment of standing in the sun, leading to unchecked egos and spoiled children (sarvabhraṣṭulu). He asserts that discipline and correction are essential for character building. True education involves teaching the Rahasyālu (secrets) and meaning (arthamu) behind lessons, not just rote memorization or meaningless punishment like writing lines (impōjiṣan). Furthermore, he advises against creating excessive comfort, warning that luxuries like AC classrooms and buses prevent students from developing resilience, resulting in lethargy (kōsi).
The Myth of Uttara Ramayanam and Anjana Devi's Tapas:
Sri Garikipati reiterates his assertion that the Uttara Ramayanam (North Kanda), including the tragic events like Sita’s exile (Sītā Parityāgam) and her entry into the Earth (Bhūpravēśam), is completely fabricated (kalpitam) and should be discarded. He emphasizes that true Indian epics are never tragic endings (Viṣādāntālu); the Ramayana concludes happily with the Yuddha Kanda.
Finally, the discourse honors Hanuman's mother, Anjana Devi, explaining that Hanuman's strength is a product of her immense Tapas (penance) and pure character (śīlam). Anjana Devi, an Apsara in her previous life, undertook intense penance against Ravana after he violated her, leading her to seek a son who possessed the strength of Vayu Deva to defeat him. The speaker also examines the profound Śaraṇam verse recited during temple circumambulation (Pradakṣiṇam).
