MPN Hero Jo Ann Mannino has enriched the MPN community by opening avenues for patients to support each other and to communicate with the doctors and researchers pioneering the efforts on treatments. Through her role as a leader with the MPN Education Foundation, she organizes the biennial patient-physician conference on myeloproliferative neoplasms, which provides an opportunity for patients and doctors to speak face-to-face and discuss the concerns and priorities of the community in person. She has also started her own online patient support group, which has grown to include participants from across the country.
