Stockholm Walks; around the block ”Vägaren” in Södermalm. A slow stroll on a slightly grey day.

The area enclosed by streets is a block. In Stockholm the blocks have had names since around 1650. The names are on the street signs, but most of the time not used in every day descriptions of location etc. The names usually have a theme throughout an area. This block ”vägaren” today would suggest referring to a person who weighs things (like in an old fashioned store perhaps), but it might have had another meaning. It’s spelled Wägharen 1648. This block is in the heart of Södermalm, but not a very chic, pretty or cool. We’re starting at the corner of Götgatan and Folkungagatan. Just every day life in Stockholm going on. The building voted “the ugliest building in Stockholm “ several times takes up a large part of the block and houses a large Systembolaget (liquor store). As I didn’t have my gimbal with me this time I have to walk slowly. I’m not good at walking slowly and turned off the camera for a short bit so I could walk the most boring bit in a regular paste. No, I must admit I have no real intention of working on my patience…
