The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has faced criticism for his alleged involvement in arming Fulani vigilante groups, particularly Miyetti Allah, which has raised concerns about creating ethnic militias and undermining national security. The Middle Belt Forum (MBF) has questioned Ribadu's stance on herdsmen-farmers conflicts, pointing out the contradiction between his claims and the reality on the ground, where many communities remain under occupation by armed Fulani militants. Furthermore, the NSA's office has been accused of double standards in security policy, allowing certain groups to bear arms while denying others, like the Amotekun security outfit in Southwest Nigeria, the same privileges.
