Porsche 944 - Rear Torsion Bar Explanation, Correct DIY, and Quick Hack DIY

In the Epoch Motoring Porsche 944 build - I wanted to cover the details, tips, and tricks around Rear Torsion Bar Delete DIY.

Disassembly

-Jack up and Support the car
-Remove Sway Bar - 17MM Bolts
-Hang Axle
-Unbolt Axle AT TRANSMISSION SIDE not hub side - M8 Triple Square
-Hang Rear Trailing Arm from Body above Assembly - Rope
-Remove Bolts Closest to Rear Diff in Trailing Arm Assembly - 19MM
-Disconnect Brake Line and Brake Sensor - 14MM
-Unbolt and Hang Exhaust (Varies, mine was aftermarket - spaced this in the video)
-Trailing Arm / Alignment Bolts
If you want to roughly align, mark these - Marker
-Far Left Bolt with Sway Bar Assembly - 17MM Front, 27MM Rear
-Middle Bolt - 24MM Rear / 36 MM Rear (use fan belt wrench)

-Far Right Bolt 24 MM / 24 MM
-Torsion Assembly Bolts - 4 x 19MM Bolts
-Torsion Bar to Upper Body - 2 x 17MM Bolts (Later in this in video, these are right above the 36MM bolt)
-Unbolt Mount to Body (Very Far Right) - 1 x 19MM
-Put a jack supporting center of trailing tube assembly
-Pry each side gently and check for any snagged brake lines/sensors, slowly lowering jack
-Buy a big a** pry bar. I believe mine is 4 feet.

-Once the cap on the outside of the torsion bar is below the body, wiggle side to side until it comes apart
-Remove torsion bar

Reassembly

-19MM Body Mounts (1 Per Side, last bolt out above):
-Wiggle Side to side, and make sure the body mounts line up perfectly.
-This can be really challenging. Go slow, and use a second jack on your hub assembly to apply angle.

17MM Upper Body Mounts (2x, second to last bolts out above)
-Place a few wood blocks on the torsion cap assembly/outer trailing arm area
-Jack from under the hub to apply as much force as possible
-Wood will crush, and might lift car slightly off jack stands (be careful, and I'm not liable)
-Should now be close enough for 2 17MM bolts.
-Should replace these rubber mounts if you have them. I cant imagine how difficult it would be to get the angles good enough for stiff mounts, but would improve handling.
-The rest of the assembly is is pretty straight forward, loosely put all bolts in in reverse order.
-When you go to align , go as tight as you can with hand tools so you don't pull the bolts out of alignment. You will see a round hole on the back of the camber bolt that needs to stay inside of the trailing arm.
