We're so excited to have another fresh and delicious batch of Farthest Star Sake’s flagship Nigori (Cloudy) sake, Mountains on the Moon, canned and ready for shipment to a restaurant or store near you. And if you're in the area, Mountains on the Moon will be on tap and available in cans in our Medfield, MA taproom. If you are in New England, our craft sake is available in restaurants and stores in CT, MA, ME, and RI! Thank you to the Iron Heart Canning Co. crew for your great teamwork and attention to detail.
Mountains on the Moon is made with soft water, yeast from the central mountains of Japan, and Yamadanishiki rice grown by the Isbell family in Arkansas. These premium ingredients, and a refined brewing process, result in a fruity and sweet sake with clean and light acidity that is great for sipping on its own, or pairing with a wide variety of dishes. And just because it's sake doesn't mean you need to pair this with Japanese food! Try this Nigori with pepperoni pizza, beef tacos, or a cheeseburger, and you'll see why the Japanese say "Nihonshu wa ryori wo erabanai," or "sake doesn't fight with food." Sake loves food.
We are incredibly fortunate to source our Yamadanishiki, Gohyakumangoku, and Titan rice varieties from Isbell Farms here in the United States. Isbell represents five generations of rice farming in Arkansas and has a focus on the sustainable production of quality rice.
Farthest Star Sake brewery and taproom is the only one of its kind in New England. Our mission is to make the best, local, minimally processed, hand-made, delicious sake possible. Fresh, high-quality sake provides an explosion of aroma and flavor that makes you wonder how so much could be hidden in rice. Using only high-quality brewing rice and sake-specific yeast strains, we craft a wide range of styles and expressions that show you just how amazing locally-made sake can be. We are excited to share the never-ending pursuits of drinking and making sake!
