Godzilla: The New Heroes | Free Comic Book Day Issue Review | Kai-Sei Era Preview

Dan & Frank (Godzilla Island) review the Free Comic Book Day special ‪@IDWPublishing‬ Godzilla: The New Heroes which introduces the Kai-Sei era, it's 3 new comic series, & the new heroes of those series! We got a nice intro into the mainline ongoing Godzilla series that had lots of lore and world building for this universe. Following the mainline series we got a few pages of Godzilla: Escape the Deeadzone where the post apocalyptic gritty wasteland tone is set, and finally after that we have our 80's sci-fi anime style series Starship Godzilla. Each series has their own unique tone, style and feel but you can they all have a connection back to the main series of Godzilla!

After this discussion Frank reached out to the lead editor of the Kai-sei series and asked him about the issue count for Godzilla Escape the Deadzone and Starship Godzilla, he said :

"Deadzone and Starship Godzilla are going to be on a season model. Basically, they're going to release 6 issues at a time, and as long as sales are good, we'll do another season of an additional 6 issues.

If for whatever reason fans aren't into one of those series, and sales aren't there for it, we'll just replace it with a different series in the Kai-Sei era. "

He also reassured us that if for any reason any of the side series were to get cancelled that part of it being a connected universe means that those characters would still show up in the main ongoing series, so it isn't "the end " for those characters. We hope for nothing but success for all these series and the fact that he said that they would replace them with a different Kai-Sei series makes us think that there will definitely be other "season" based Kai-sei comic series coming once these 6 issue seasons finish!
