Awasa is a beauty dance of the Okanisi people in Suriname. I've been trained the last 3 months by Gadoe Talenti. This group trains everyone who wants to learn about awasa. Their aim is to preach the gospel through dance. I wrote my own song (Bali halleluja) and I did my own clothing. I've embroided the pangi (skirt) and I've crocheted the top.
