Easy Crochet Toddler Mittens

These mittens work up super quick with bulky yarn. The pattern is for toddler mittens, but the simplicity of this pattern make it easy to work up in any size you need.

o Loops & Threads Barcelona (5) Bulky
• Hook: 6.0 mm J/10 Hook
• Notions: Stitch marker, scissors, darning needle, 2 buttons

Abbreviations:

ch: chain
sl-st: slip stitch
sc: single crochet
hdc: half double crochet
st/sts: stitch/stitches
Foundation half double crochet
Sc2tog: single crochet 2 together

Part 1
Start with 16 foundation half double crochets. Ch. 1. Turn
Row 1: Sc in first 2 sts, hdc in remaining 14 sts. Ch. 2. Turn (16)

Row 2: Hdc in 14 sts. Join with a sl-st to other side of sleeve to form a circle. Ch. 1. (14)

Row 3: Sc in same st as ch. 1. Sc in each st around. Join with a sl-st to 1st sc to join. Ch. 1. (14)

Row 4: 2sc in same st as ch. 1. Sc in next 6 sts, 2sc in next, sc in 6. Sl-st to 1st sc to join. Ch. 1. (16)

Row 5: (Thumb hole) Sc in same st as ch. 1. Sc in 2, 2sc, sc in 3, 2sc to end. Ch. 1. Turn. (20)

Row 6-7: Sc in 19. Ch 1. Turn. (20)

Row 8: Sc in 19. Ch 1. Sl to first sc of row to join back into a circle. Ch. 1. (20)

Row 9-13: Sc in same st as ch. 1. Sc in each st around. Ch. 1. Turn. (20)

Row 14: sc in same st as ch. 1. Sc 2, sc2tog, sc 3, sc2tog repeat around to end. Ch 1. (16)

Row 15: sc in same st as ch. 1. Sc, sc2tog, sc 2, sc2tog repeat around to end. Ch 1. (12).

Sew the remaining stitches together to close the top of mitten. Finish Off

Thumb
Attach yarn at any stitch around thumb opening. Ch 1.

Round 1: sc in same st as ch 1. Add 7 more stitches around thumb opening. Join to top of sc to join. Ch 1. (8)
Round 2-5: sc in each st around (8).

Sew the remaining stitches together to close hole in thumb. Finish off.

Add button to wrist portion of glove.

For the 2nd glove, follow the same instructions and turn the glove inside out. Sew button.
