It was justice at last for some 21 victims of the Nyayo house torture victims under the Moi regime after they were awarded more than 39 million shillings in compensation by the high court. Delivering the historic and landmark ruling, Justice Hanna Okwengu ruled that the constitutional rights of the former detainees had grossly been violated. Justice Okwengu dismissed an argument by attorney general Amos Wako that such a case should be handled by the truth commission, saying the government must pay for sins committed by state agents. Andrew Ochieng' reports.
