Cooking Puto Cheese Using Full Glutinous Rice Flour | Cooking Experiment

In this video, I experimented with a previous puto cheese recipe I used. Instead of using all-purpose flour, I want to use rice flour, instead of brown sugar I used white sugar and instead of plain water I used coconut milk. This is my first time baking using rice flour, as I only knew recently there are different types of rice flour. I didn't realized it but I was able to buy the glutinous type of rice flour which was the sticky one with the texture used to make the filipino rice dessert called "sapin-sapin". So I was able to use full glutinous rice flour for this version, I only realized when I tasted it and it taste different than the regular puto, the taste is a bit similar to sapin-sapin. The resulting puto was still good, it was best eaten after being chilled overnight in the fridge. #cookingathome #philippines #ricesnacks

(UPDATE: 07/09/2025) I just started cooking since 2020, my daughter has autism and is a picky eater so that led me to try and experiment with a lot of different recipes and cooking to be able to feed and introduce to her healthier and various kinds of food. I made this for my daughter's birthday, this was just an experiment. I'm surprised it turned out fine but you can try making it with full "glutinous rice flour" too if you like, the original recipe was taken from the back of an all-purpose flour product. Check out the recipe below:
2 cups all-purpose flour (I plan to use rice flour but accidentally used glutinous rice flour in this video)
1 & 3/4 cups brown sugar (to make it a white puto, I used white sugar, you could reduce sugar to your desired taste if you like)
1 cup water (I substituted with full coconut milk instead in this video)
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
3 pieces whole eggs
vegetable oil or butter (for greasing)
sliced or grated cheese (for topping)
STEAM THE PUTO FOR 20-25 MINUTES.
