Yakushima Adventure Travel 2020

In preparation for the next Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS 2021) to be held in Hokkaido in October 2021, Mark Brazil and I were sent to Yakushima to kick the tires on some activities and accommodations. We hiked up Mt. Tachu (1,490m) in pouring rain and continued with the wetness with some fun and refreshing stream climbing, kayaking, SUPing, a forest walk, and more. For me, hiking amongst those over one-thousand-year-old giant cedars surrounded by water-soaked moss was the highlight. But then there were the monkeys and much more! Yakushima has tons to offer the adventure traveler, and we only scratched the surface. I can’t wait to go back!
