9 Years later, can BMW X5 E70 Diesel be the ultimate long trip/off road SUV? I thinks so! Here is the list of things that went wrong with the X5 Diesel in my 4 years of ownership:

DPF Active tank sensor - entire tank replaced under BMW extended warranty free
Idler pulley bolt - recall covered by BMW free
Throttle body valve actuator - DIY replaced myself , part roughly $150-$220
BMW X5 E70 Diesel Maintenance Cost
Engine oil - $100 DIY
Air Filter - cleanable K&N AF $65
DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) roughly every 10k mi - $13
EGR Valve cleaning - $8
