🕌 Shah Waliullah: The Great Islamic Reformer (1703–1762)
Welcome back to FusionX Academy! In this lecture, we explore the life and legacy of Shah Waliullah, the first major religious reformer of the subcontinent. His work laid the foundation for the survival of Muslim identity during the decline of the Mughal Empire.

📜 Who was Shah Waliullah?
Early Life: Born Qutub-ud-Din in 1703, he became known as "Waliullah" (Friend of Allah) due to his piety.
Education: He was educated at Madrassa Rahimiya (founded by his father, Shah Abdur Rahim) and later traveled to Arabia to study under the renowned scholar Sheikh Abu Tahir bin Ibrahim.

Mission: He returned to Delhi in 1732 with a mission to reform the demoralized Muslim community.

❓ Why did he wish to revive Islam?
Shah Waliullah believed the decline of Muslim power was not just political, but spiritual. His main reasons were:
Religious Ignorance: Many Muslims had drifted away from the Quran and Sunnah.
Hindu Influence: Islamic practices were becoming "corrupted" by local Hindu customs and superstitions.
Sectarian Divisions: He wanted to end the violent conflicts between Shias and Sunnis to create a united front.
Political Decay: The Mughal Empire was crumbling, and groups like the Marathas and Sikhs were threatening to eliminate Muslim rule.

🛠️ Key Contributions
Translation of the Quran: His most famous work was translating the Holy Quran into Persian (1738), making it accessible to the educated class of the time.
Literary Legacy: He wrote 51 books, including Hujjatullah-ul-Baligha and Izalat-ul-Akhfa.
Political Action: He famously wrote to Ahmad Shah Abdali of Afghanistan, inviting him to defeat the Marathas at the Third Battle of Panipat (1761).
Social Reform: He emphasized social justice, fair wages for laborers, and the eradication of un-Islamic social evils.
