Bath Green Park Station, a striking architectural gem in Bath, Somerset, opened in 1870 as part of the Midland Railway's Mangotsfield and Bath Branch Line. Originally named "Bath Queen Square," it became "Bath Green Park" in 1951 under British Railways. The station is well-known for its elegant, vaulted single-span glass roof, which reflects the city’s Georgian style.
It served as a key connection for the Midland Railway and the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway, operating services between northern cities and coastal destinations like Bournemouth. Its prime days saw bustling summer Saturday traffic with holidaymakers and frequent local services.
After the Beeching cuts, passenger services ceased in 1966, and it was officially closed in 1971. The station’s vast space later transitioned into a new era of use, becoming a venue for markets, shops, and community events. In recent years, it has hosted a thriving farmers' market, small businesses, and is now a vibrant public hub that blends heritage with modern use. It stands as a Grade II listed building, preserving its historical importance
