J&K: NCPUL sets up special centre to revive paper-mache art in Anantnag

A special centre for paper-mache art has been started in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir. It was started by National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL). Around 40 women from different villages were enrolled at the centre. The training will be imparted to the women free of cost for six months. Experts give training to them at the centre. Paper-mache art was a prestigious business in the 14th century. This art is considered a part of aesthetic art. It is a famous art of Kashmir valley and tourists from all over the world love paper-mache products. NCPUL is also offering a six-month certificate course in paper-mache art. They also provide financial assistance for running Paper Mache Skill Development and Training Centres through Craft Development Institute (CDI) in Srinagar. Computer Applications, Business Accounting, and Arabic language training are also being provided at the centre.
