We purchased this product from Aosom website, and we do not like it. We do not recommend it for hamsters. We don't know about how it would be for other smaller pets, but for hamsters , this cage is not good. Here are the reasons.
1)Fragile wood.
2)Hamster can injure themselves while jumping off the levels as they don't always use the stairs.
3)Wood soaks up the urine and smell stays in.
4) Wood is harder to clean and pee stains on it.
5) The floor is uneven and the bedding with poop gets in between the gaps, falling on the floor.
6)Hamster could chew through this fragile wood, although our hammy is not a big chewer.
7) Some pieces had cracks in them.
If you are looking for a better product , we suggest watching some diy videos for ideas. Like the detolf or linnman ikea turned into hamster cages. Or the bin cage diy. But if you have bought the product , then we have provided some tips to make it work.
