How to color shells with a pearl or nacre effect

Coloring a pearly, nacreous shell is not too difficult and you can do it to. I recommend - always start with watching and studying real photos of similar objects (pearls, shells...) on the web. You can get some inspiration about the colors, shadows and lights and try to create similar effects in your coloring.
For this video, I printed my Happy Mermaid coloring page (available in my Freebies Gallery for my newsletter subscribers, or available in my Etsy shop - links below) and use Prismacolor premier colored pencils.
I have picked a few pastel - toned colors (light yellow, light pink, light salmon, light turquoise, light blue etc) and dark turquoise and dark blue color. For the realistic look of the shell I used also a medium brown/grey color.
