Bunker Wednesday is back, and this one is LOUD.
In this episode, we take the IKS Castle Castings air raid siren, dating from the 1970s–1980s, and put it through its paces at full power. During the Cold War, sirens like this were designed to warn the public of imminent nuclear attack, forming a key part of the UK’s civil defence warning system.
Joining us for this special test is Heritage War Sirens, with James bringing along two historic sirens:
We run all sirens to their maximum capability, giving a rare opportunity to hear the sound that once represented the final warning of the Cold War era.
This is not just a test, it’s a living piece of history.
