The Porsche Boxster Oil Separator Issue (and How to Solve It!)

I was having several problems with my 2003 986.2 Porsche Boxster. I had P0171 and P0174 check engine codes, a stuck oil cap that I couldn't remove when the engine was running, I heard a whistle coming from the engine, and I saw some white smoke from the exhaust. All this led me to diagnose and replace the Air Oil Separator (AOS).
Keep in mind that the AOS part differs between the 986.1 and 986.2 and beyond.
