Welcome aboard NJT's Northeast Corridor Line. Today, 6/8/15, we are on board Train 3867, a Trenton bound semi-express train consisting of a 12 car Arrow III EMU set, starting out from New York Penn Station and riding all the way to Trenton Transit Center (1:23:00). We make stops at Secaucus Junction (12:26), Newark Penn Station (24:40), Metropark (41:05), Metuchen (45:48), Edison (52:24), New Brunswick (57:00), Princeton Junction (1:10:55), and Hamilton (1:17:46) along the way. Our initial departure is delayed by about 10-12 minutes due to a broken down train inside one of the Hudson River Tunnels. As a result, the ride is rather slow until we depart Newark Penn. The overall ride quality of the car I am on is pretty decent. I am sitting in the first car (1488), which is designated as one of the quiet cars, so enjoy the pneumatic brake sounds, in addition to the ABB AC traction motors / inverters and the Wabco AA2 horn, all in 60 FPS. I'm really going to miss these cars when its time for them to go to the scrapper.
In addition, you will notice the progress that has been made between Jersey Avenue and Hamilton in installing the high tension catenary system. A few of the cat poles have been erected on their concrete foundations. We also pass by (and get passed by) several other trains along the NEC, chief of those being an Amtrak Northeast Regional (train # 94) powered by none other than ACS-64 600 (the Gunn Motor) which passes us as we depart NWK. Hope you guys enjoy the ride =)
