Welcome back to the remote countryside here on one of Japan's Southern islands where early morning dog walks are becoming part of our daily routine as the summer heat increases.

Around this time of year,sea turtles return to the beach to lay eggs and we're able to spot their tracks during walks
which is great to see despite the unfortunate problem of tons of rubbish washing up ashore!

The Ume plum syrup my Wife and Daughter made a few weeks ago is ready to try and the leftover plums won't go to waste,we'll
make a tasty Ume Jam.

There's always plenty of jobs to do around our old countryside house and before summer really sets in,I decided to give the window frames and screens a good clean.They're certainly old and don't work very well but we make the most of what we
have.

After working outside in the hot sun,it was great to be able to enjoy a surf session,no wetsuit required as the Pacific ocean waters around us will be pleasantly warm for the next few months!
