Peshawar has produced several notable figures in the arts and literature. This historic city was the epicenter of cultural events and creative endeavours prior to the onset of militancy and bloodshed. Musicians and music centers were the prime targets of the attacks in the region.
The city will take time to recover , and the scars will take time to heal, but Peshawarites have always shown resilience and have kept their songs and musical traditions alive. Ustad Mas Khan is a Peshawar-based musician and Tabla master. We invited him to perform at Gorkathri Tehsil, the centuries-old Buddhist site in the city's centre, and he composed this hypnotic piece for us.
