How to compare two images and display the differences using Python (Hint: Pillow)

If you ever use any online image comparison tool you may wondering how did they do that? In this tutorial I will show you using the Pillow library we can write just few lines of code to detects the differences between two images using Python.

The Python Image Library (as known as PIL or Pillow) is a free library for the Python programming language that adds support for opening, manipulating, and saving many different image file formats. It is available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Some of the stuff you can do with Pillow are
image manipulation
per-pixel manipulation
image filtering, such as blurring, contouring, smoothing, or edge finding,
image enhancing, such as sharpening, adjusting brightness, contrast or color,
adding text to images and much more
