S160 Black Magic - Look Away Greta !

A warm and sunny Sunday afternoon was the backdrop for a throaty performance from Churnet Valley Railway's resident S160 No '6046' as it heads over the Staffordshire Moorlands on the long climb to Ipstones Loop. Locations are Bradnop which is on the 1/45 section and then Longshaw Farm where the gradient eases to 1/59. With the warm conditions steam effects were non existent but there was plenty of the black stuff on offer though while photographers like me may appreciate the effects many won't. The S160's on the Churnet can be smoky at the best of times, so wouldn't say this was bad coal as the loco went very well !
