A 53-year-old fortune teller and feng shui master from Sydney's eastern suburbs, along with her 25-year-old daughter, have been charged with 39 serious offences related to a $70 million fraud scheme. Anya Phan allegedly recruited vulnerable clients from Sydney's Vietnamese community to act as loan mules for a sophisticated money laundering syndicate, pocketing $150,000 for each person she convinced to participate. The fraud involved purchasing overvalued properties, including a $13.7 million duplex at Dover Heights, and has expanded from an initial $10 million vehicle financing fraud to a $200 million operation involving mortgage and business loan fraud.
