With the support of the American Assyrian National Federation (AANF) and Gishru and in coordination with the Assyrian Aid Society of America (AAS-A), the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq constructed a 325 meter irrigation channel in the village of Belmend, Nahla region in north Iraq, serving sixty-two Assyrian families.
Ashur Eskrya, President of the Assyrian Aid Society-Iraq, managed the project from its inception through its completion with irrigation water pumping into the village and farmers' crops. The project included the excavation, casting the base, construction of the side walls, and plastering the channel.
AAS-A and AAS-I commend partners like AANF and Gishru for their dedication in addressing critical humanitarian needs and will continue to coordinate efforts with its partners to make possible a better life for Assyrians in the Homeland.
