Why do people trust (or distrust) science? In a time of polarization, misinformation, and declining public confidence, understanding how trust works in the brain has never been more important. Dr. Paul Zak, Professor at Claremont Graduate University and author of The Moral Molecule: How Trust Works and The Little Book of Happiness: A Scientific Approach to Living Better gave a talk at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, drawing on his pioneering neuroscience and behavioral research to explore how oxytocin, empathy, and human connection shape trust in scientists, public health, and policy. He shed light on how trust is built (and lost) and what this means for fostering better dialogue and building more trustworthy connections between scientists and society.
