The dilapidated state of the City of Johannesburg, particularly the CBD continues to be an eye sore as the City increasingly loses its former glory and world-class status. More and more people, including city dwellers, businesses and civil society comment in disbelief as the City degenerates at an alarming rate. Rubbish is now overflowing onto the sidewalk, making it almost impossible to walk past. These, and other conditions including complaints of crime, drug peddling, and broad daylight prostitution have caused the city to be a source of uncomfortable public discourse, and now we are about to delve into that conversation with Joburg City executive mayor Thapelo Amad who joins us in the studio this morning.
