Early in the new millennium, there were no two bigger clubs in Australian rugby league than the Brisbane Broncos and Newcastle Knights. Winners of their respective competitions in the split comp of 1997; the Knights with the John’s brother’s and Brisbane led by Gordon Tallis and a bumper forward pack, were both premiership favourites in season 2000.
This game was played at Brisbane’s old QE II Stadium in front of a crowd of just over 27,000.
