Here we have the Herbert C. Jackson downbound on the St. Clair River loaded with Taconite from Marquette Mi. They were heading downbound to Cleveland Ohio on the Cuyahoga River.
As I mentioned in a previous video, the Herbert C. Jackson was the next ship to be built after the famous Edmund Fitzgerald. That was 66 years ago as of 2025. Since then, the Jackson has not had many incidents. In 2014 she collided with a draw bridge on the Rouge River that was dropped right before she began to pass though. This was due to a bridge operator being under the influence. Very minor damage occurred to the Jackson. Other than that, light and minor groundings occurred.
