This presentation presents the design, implementation, and performance analysis of a CUDA-accelerated 2D Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) solver for incompressible fluid flow simulation. The implementation employs the D2Q9 lattice model with BGK collision operator to simulate flow around obstacles, demonstrating significant computational speedup over a single-threaded CPU baseline. The solver achieves 3.7x to 13.4x speedup depending on grid size, with performance scaling favorably as problem size increases. Key optimizations include shared-memory tiling, coalesced memory access patterns, and asynchronous CUDA stream operations. The implementation is validated against standard benchmark cases (lid-driven cavity and cylinder flow) and demonstrates correct physical behavior. The software architecture employs design patterns including Strategy, Observer, and Builder patterns to enable flexible, maintainable code structure. Results show that GPU acceleration is particularly effective for larger grids (512×512), where speedup exceeds 13x, making the solver suitable for high-resolution aerodynamic simulations.
