Captain Rosie Wild joined the Centre for Army Leadership High-Performance conference in May 2022 to talk about her experiences of high-performance.
She was described as a "trailblazer" after passing the P Company course - which many men fail. Several women have attempted P Company, also known as the All Arms Pre-Parachute Selection (AAPPS), since they were first able to apply in the 1990s. Physical challenges across the five days include a timed 20-mile endurance march and an aerial assault course. Capt Wild was awarded the coveted maroon beret of the Parachute Regiment, or the Paras, on Tuesday - though she will not join the regiment.
The Centre For Army Leadership (CAL) exists to champion Army leadership excellence in order to optimise the Army’s edge and underpin operational success.
The CAL is the guardian of the Army Leadership Doctrine, the codification of our philosophy. We act as the Army’s leadership conscience, calibrating our thinking across multiple sectors and, through the CAL Research Institute, ensuring conceptual rigour. Furthermore, our persistent engagement seeks to stimulate debate, awareness and critical thinking.
