How to Grow Hardy Gingers for Amazing Scented Tropical Flowers! Hedychium gardnerianum Tips

I'm back after an unplanned 'summer break' and wanted to do a quick video about hardy gingers such as the Hedychium gardnerianum and others I grow - these are amazing tropical style plants with lush jungle foliage and amazing scented flowers to fill your late summer garden with fragrance. In terms of overwintering care and summer watering, feeding and rich soil requirements, they're very similar to cannas and deserve to be as widely planted as they are. They're fantastic plants for a sunny tropical style border or large container to bring some colour and exotic interest and work great with other flowers like cannas, salvias, dahlias plus big tropical foliage plants like Musa basjoo bananas, Tetrapanax and Coleus in your UK tropical style garden. Hopefully there's some helpful growing tips in here and you want to try growing an ornamental ginger or two for your summer garden display next year!
