"Chop Suey!" by System of a Down explores themes of perception of death, judgment, and the importance of mental health, using surrealist lyrics, biblical references, and a wordplay on "Suicide" for its title. Guitarist Daron Malakian stated the song questions how society views people based on their death, while Serj Tankian incorporated biblical lines randomly from a book to form the mid-section. The title itself is a double entendre, referring both to a Chinese dish and the intentionally provocative "Self-Righteous Suicide," which the band changed for the album.
