Train passes under building! MIT, Grand Junction Branch - Cambridge, MA - 6/29/2025

In this video we take a look at the MBTA Readville switcher that passes under the MIT buildings in Cambridge, MA several times per week. The line it is running on is the Grand Junction Branch, the only line connecting the MBTA's north and south sides near Boston. Without it trains have to go all the way out to Worcester before going up the freight Worcester Main to Ayer. It should be noted CSX stopped running here a few years ago so currently this is a passenger equipment move route only. There is no passenger rail service on this line although it has been proposed previosuly.
