HOW TO: Make a FANCY COASTER out of POLYMER CLAY! Easy tutorial but so effective!!!:D

You might notice on the filming on this one I was starting to feel better... and I'm pleased to say I'm now fully on the road to recovery, but, no skipping yet... :D Here is a cool technique I saw made out of wood, I haven't seen anything like this made from polymer clay, so I thought I'd give it a go & share my experience. It's easy, a bit long winded with the make, bake, make, bake method- but the effect is so cool :D

Baking Polymer Clay:

UK instructions for baking- it's all in Celsius not Fahrenheit, which is why I don't always quote times & temperatures. I recommend using Polymer Clay packet instructions. However a good tip is to bake no higher than 100 degrees Celsius. It's better to bake at a lower temperature for longer, than higher for shorter.

Larger clay items need longer- always check after 10 mins- sometimes things fall over in the oven & can be rescued at this point. Watch for burning! Especially white as it's quick to burn (don't know why...) and can turn yellow!

Once out of the oven wait for it to cool before thinking it's baked- if it feels soft to touch, you can poke a finger nail in it or a finger print, back in the oven it goes!

Electric ovens work better as the temperature is even, gas oven temperatures fluctuate do not keep a steady temp for baking polymer clay.
