Built in 1960s by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ji for meditation and education. 84 caves, dome type structures popularly called Kuttiya were constructed.
These 84 Kuttiyas were considered holy as they were designed in such a way that one could achieve the deepest stage of meditation in lesser time.
Many yogis from all over the world came to the place to learn meditation from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ji. Beatles, the pop band group also came to the ashram for learning meditation from Mahesh Yogi ji.
Beatles found the place so alive and productive that they could went on to record 40 songs in there including their most famous album The White Album.
