Introduction to microbial surface layers (S-layers)

An animation visualising varieties of microbial surface layers (S-layers), one of the most abundant families of proteins, which coat bacterial and archaeal cells, allowing them to thrive in the harshest environments on Earth.

Tanmay Bharat's group, in the LMB's Structural Studies Division, are looking to better understand the structure and function of S-layers.
