U.S. inequality from Shays' Rebellion to Occupy Wall Street | Who Rules America? (2/6)

The second episode of "Who Rules America" goes back to the origins of the American Revolution to show how the fight against entrenched wealth and privilege dates back hundreds of years.

Danny Schechter, the "News Dissector", travels to Western Massachusetts to explore the story of Shays' Rebellion, often considered the Occupy Wall Street of its era. The journey continues along Boston's Freedom Trail to debate the revolutionary and non-revolutionary aspects of the American Revolution. Indigenous activist Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz challenges the narrative of a true revolution, calling it a war on independence instead. She argues it lacked an anti-colonial agenda: and "democracy has always been an oligarchy". Modern-day economic inequality is placed in a historical context.
