In this video, I summarize some of the main points and themes of Dr. Ziba Mir-Hosseini's book, Journeys Toward Gender Equality in Islam. These include some key points from the author's conversations with each scholar in the book, the differences between sharia/fiqh and the ways that fiqh can hold us back, why you should read the book, and, of course, my usual jokes. This is part 1 of the conversation; in part 2, the author will join us to discuss the book.
