Online RPG Mabinogi's Welsh References (Welsh References in Video Games)

The massively multiplayer online role-playing game ‪@Mabinogi‬ from ‪@Nexon‬ and ‪@devCATofficial‬ takes its name from the Welsh stories of the Mabinogion, while drawing inspiration from Welsh tales for its own world and characters, despite much of the game's lore being based on Irish mythology.

The Alban Knights reference the King Arthur tales, complete with squads that are named after Welsh terms for the four seasons. The land of Avalon, in which King Arthur was brought to to recover from his injuries, is a location in Mabinogi, with the founder of the Alban Knights laid to rest there, while a 13 seat Round Table also exists, referencing the one from the legend.

Many Welsh character names feature throughout Mabinogi's world, and Cymraeg, the Welsh language, is utilised for certain enemies, with some being named after or based on mythical Welsh creatures, such as Gwyllgi and Gwyllion.

Players can obtain ridable pets that include Cŵn Annwn, the Welsh Hounds of Hell, and variations of Welsh Corgis.
