The Saudi Pro League spent a billion dollars in the summer of 2023, as the Public Investment Fund privatised four of the biggest clubs. In 2017 the PIF announced NEOM, the infamous project to build The Line in the Saudi desert. Now NEOM have launched a football club.

Possibly the richest club in the world, in the second tier of Saudi football.

This is the story of how football is playing a part in a tightly guarded $1.5 trillion real estate mega project being built in virtual secrecy.
