Hi guys, today’s standard is George Gerswhin’s last composition : Love is here to stay, completed just before his death in 1937. his brother Ira wrote the lyrics after George’s death, as a tribute to his brother. It says Acoustic Standards 104/2 because the #104/2 was posted a few months ago, but on a 1936 Gibson L5, in order to showcase the choice a musician had in 1936 when buying the high end Gibson guitar, or its rival Epiphone, both the top of the line 17 inches archtop guitars.
I’m playing a 1936 Epiphone Deluxe, which is 17 inches lower bout, and has parallele bracing. The guitar is strung with Phosphore bronze d'addario EXP16 gauge 12 and i’m playing a 0.71 mm purple dunlop pick. The sound is captured by a Neumann TLM 103.
