東洋大学附属牛久高等学校駅伝部ランニングドリル - Japanese Ekiden High School: running drills

東洋大学附属牛久高等学校駅伝部は、2024年の箱根駅伝で4位の東洋大学の付属高校である。大学には附属高校があることが多く（キャンパスが同じで、入学しやすい）、その附属高校を利用して、大学入学前の高校時代にランナーを成長させ、育成しているのだ。

牛久高校は、茨城県（人口300万人）の強豪高校である。最速ランナーの宮崎優は5000mで13分56秒のPBを持つ。

生徒たちは毎回、トレーニングの前に徹底した体幹トレーニングとランニング・ドリルを行っている。コーチは山本浩之元マラソン選手、PBは 2:09:12、2016年ニューヨークマラソン4位。

Ushiku High School is affiliated with Toyo University, who just came 4th at the 2024 Hakone Ekiden. Japanese Universities often have high schools that are affiliated with them (same campus, easier entry into the university), and those universities take advantage of it to grow and develop runners before they get into university.

Ushiku High School is the strongest high school running team in Ibaraki prefecture (3m inhabitants), next to Tokyo. Its fastest runner, Yu Miyazaki, has a PB in 13:56 for 5,000m.

The students do extensive core exercises and running drills before every single workout, as featured in this video. They are coached by Hiroyuki Yamamoto https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiroyuk..., 2.09.12 marathoner, who was 4th at the New York Marathon in 2016.
