Experience rare footage of the U.S. Marine Corps’ 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) operating aboard the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group as it conducts real-world missions off the coast of Venezuela.
This video captures the full spectrum of Marine combat readiness at sea — from AV-8B Harrier II launching live bomb drops, to deck-level small-arms shooting, to fast small-boat operations conducted in the tense waters of the southern Caribbean.
The 22nd MEU (SOC), embarked on USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7) and supporting ships, forms the Marine Corps’ forward-deployed crisis-response force in the region. As part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group, they maintain high-alert readiness to respond to emerging contingencies, maritime security challenges, and evolving regional tensions.
The Iwo Jima ARG remains positioned in the southern Caribbean, demonstrating U.S. amphibious capability, rapid response posture, and sustained presence in one of the most closely watched maritime regions of 2025.
