CFD LIFT AND DRAG CALCULATIONS OVER A SOLAR PANEL WITH WIND AT 180 MPH AT THE BACK OF THE PANEL
In this video we explain how we can we do wind loading calculations using the ASCE 7-10 with lift and drag calculations made in a CFD simulator for the final calculation of the forces experienced by a solar panel exposed to 180 MPH wind from the north side of the solar panel at an angle of 30 degrees.
For the lift and drag force calculations, we use a CFD simulator which is contained in the SolidWorks program.
In this presentation the calculation of the forces is done for both, for an inclined plate as well as for a solar panel constructed like the lid of a shoe box. The results are quite interesting!!!!
